Baker Mountain is a remote, isolated massif in the heart of Maine's "100 mile wilderness" area. The ascent of Baker has traditionally been a difficult bushwhack through dense evergreens, but the Appalachian Mountain Club recently purchased the surrounding land and work on a hiking trail to the summit may begin in 2016.
