Although many claim that this peak is not a real contender for the Alameda County
High Point title, its 3841 spot elevation certainly gives it some cred. Plus, it's really a nice peak with outstanding views and a nice summit block to climb.

The low summit rocks in the left foreground are what appear to have been picked up in LIDAR topo. The top of the roughly 10 foot high slab in center, with the broken tree branch draped on it, is about 7 feet higher than rocks in the foreground (2019-01-04). Photo by Steve Johnson.

Side view of the summit block at Challenger. It is very thin, 10 feet high and appears to not have been picked up in topo surveys. The top of this slap is imo the high point of Alameda County (2019-01-04). Photo by Steve Johnson.
