| One could argue that this peak is the highest peak in the Little Squaw Mountain aka Little Moose Mountain range, although most hiking guides recognize the peaks along the ridge trails running in a NE bearing as the Little Moose Mountain range and this peak that guards the two "Notch Ponds" begins another range that bears in a NW direction towards the western end of Big Moose Mountain range with a number of un-named un-surveyed peaks. Since there are wonderful hiking trails in this area of state lands making this area obtainable and there are steep cliffs along the southern edge of this un-named HP it is worthy of capture and in the local area.
The next highest nearest neighbor is an un-named series of subpeaks in the NW bearing range at 2460 plus NW of this peak by about 2 miles.
The highest elevation of the lowest connecting saddle in that NW bearing is given a USGS elevation of 1,980. There is another one just SE that is approximatley elevation 1,940 plus. The saddle is so broad - assign the col as EL= 1,950. |
