Part of a range that rises above the Little Elbow Valley, Mt. Glasgow is a prominent landmark in the front ranges - in fact, one can see it distinctly from Calgary on a clear day. Like the neighbouring Mt. Cornwall, it is a popular scramble and is not technical from most approaches. It is a shale mountain, unlike the harder and less eroded limestone parts of the Rockies. Bike or foot access through Little Elbow is the best and most frequent route, followed by the north-facing drainage and gaining the saddle between Cornwall and Glasgow. As in other cases of front ranges peaks, Mt. Glasgow tends to lose snow earlier than the peaks further west; this makes it an early season objective.
