| The southern of the three summits of Mount Vancouver lies on the U.S.-Canada (Alaska-Yukon) boundary. In honor of the lack of wars fought along the world's longest political frontier since 1814, this peak has been dubbed "Good Neighbor Peak". The U.S. Geological survery gives this peak an elevation of 15,979 feet, but this site uses the Canadian elevation of 4760 meters so that all three peaks of Mount Vancouver have consistent elevations. It is not clear if the north summit (4812 meters) or the south one is higher. Here, we are assuming that the north summit is highest, since the most accurate Canadian surverys show it this way. |
