The original HPS Three Sisters was the eastern summit (Peak 7632), a bit to the southeast. In 1983 it was changed to Three Sisters West (8080 feet) due to private property issues. Then in 2001 it was changed to the current Peak 8100 due to more private property issues.

Since each movement of the HPS peak was to a higher peak, it makes some sense to call the current and most climbed HPS peak "Three Sisters".
