Shisha Pangma is the lowest of the world's 8000 meter peaks, the last to be climbed, and the only one entirely within Tibet (and China).
The mountain was most recently in the news on October 5, 1999 when famed climber Alex Lowe was killed by a massive avalanche during a ski-mountaineering expedition to the peak.
