List DescriptionCounties listed are the current ones that contain a presidential birthplace, irrespective of the historic counties that may have existed in the past.
Four counties have more than 1 Presidential birthplace, as noted in the "Section" column. Also, note that the exact birthplace of President Jackson is unknown, so three counties are listed to cover all possibilities. If Jackson was born in Mecklenburg County, NC, then that county joins the multiple presidents list.
A couple of other interesting quirks:
- Norfolk County, MA is the clear leader in presidential births, with 4, twice more than any other county.
- The "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" ticket in 1840 featured two candidates born in the same county who both became president.
