List Description

Note that this list is not authoritative and it is present here mainly so climbers can log their ascents. If you are serious about parish highpointing in Louisiana, then you should visit the County Highpointing Web Site, join the Yahoo County Highpointing Group, and refer to Andy Martin's book for the definitive listing of all the points.

Southern Louisiana presents many challenges to the parish highpointer, since the land is both very low in elevation and the contours are frequently reshaped by river currents and hurricanes. Many of the points listed here are provisional, based on old maps, may be man-made areas, or simply not possible to determine without detailed LIDAR surveys. Simply locating a definitive parish high point is a challenge, in some cases harder than actually getting to that point.
