List Description

Africa, as defined by the Peakbagger.com Range Classification Scheme, includes all the mid-oceanic islands of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. That is why you see the high points of countries like Spain and Portugal (located on the Canary Islands and Azores, respectively) on a list of African countries. Also note that the high point of Egypt is geographically in Asia, so is not on the list.

In recent years some intrepid adventurers have been making good progress on completing this list. Very few of these summits offer much in the way of mountaineering challenge, but are still very diffciult to get to--a classic peakbagging pursuit.
