The main Europe Country High Point list on this site has some issues that make it a somewhat unsatisfactory list. First of all, it does not include the high points of Spain and Portugal, since those peaks are on mid-Atlantic islands grouped as part of Africa in the Peakbagger.com continent scheme. Second, it includes several peaks in the Caucasus Mountains, which are far removed from the heart of the area traditionally considered "European". Finally, that list also includes peaks on the remote islands of Svalbard and Jan Mayen, well north of the Arctic Circle.
Therefore, this list was created to address all those issues. The result is a list that conforms to a more common-sense notion of "Europe Country High Points". Also, is also easier to complete, avoiding the treacherous icy peaks of the Caucasus and major Arctic expeditions to Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
