US County High Point Links

Joe Newell has self-identified as interested in climbing to the high points of counties in the United States.

The Peakbagging site interested me because I was googling some trails and hikes and somehow stumbled here. I had never heard of "prominence"; and sort of considered the mountains that I found myself on top of as insignificant for the most part. Since doing some reading and poking around here I have a bit of a different viewpoint.

I am not a Climber. I am a lifelong hiker/backpacker and nosy explorer. My hikes and the love of the outdoors of course has led me up many a mountain in over 20 years of beating trail. I am not interested in the slightest in roping up and dealing with ice axes and crevasses; but a little snow, an abundance of elevation and the solitude and beauty of the outdoors guarantees that there will be crossover for me and hence a bit of peakbagging. At this time when I am creating this account, the peaks in Oregon with 2000 feet of prominence are something I am going to be looking at and hitting a few this winter.

My other interests are cycling, reading, fitness and long naps. Hit me up if you would like, maybe we will share a trail sometime.
