Ascent Trip Report

My brother and I set out with the intention of climbing Alander Mountain. It is highly unusual for either of us to turn back during a hike, as we are usually too stubborn. Case in point: In 2009, I hiked North and South Hancock - two 4000 ft. peaks in New Hampshire - through a full-blown migraine headache and no pain medicine. However, on this day, the steepness of the incline, heat of the day, and the after-effects a six-pack of Olympia Beer ("It's the water!") conjured a perfect trifecta of malaise. With our ambition waning, we went no higher than the 'Taconic View' outlook before turning around and retracing our steps.
