Ascent Trip ReportWhat an amazing hike this was! I had long anticipated bagging CO's highest point and was very satisfied in doing so. This was my first time bagging a peak that was honestly a mountain, but I wasn't concerned in the least. As a stop on the BDTCO trip, it was going to have to be a quick ascent and it was since there was a storm coming when we were at the summit and it was pretty cold up there (it started snowing). There was no marker at the top, but thanks to another group's guide we knew we were at the summit. 360-degree views of the Arkansas valley and the collegiate peaks were our rewards. We went down even faster than we had climbed probably as the fastest people summiting that day. There was also a great display of wildflowers this time of year. I can imagine that I will probably be at the top of this mountain sometime again in my life because it was, so worth the hike (that wasn't even that bad for 14,000 footer). Also, marmots are now officially my favorite animal. |
