Ascent Trip Report

Initially, I was going to take the full Twin Lakes route to go to Mt. Silliman but I found it was less confusing to follow Silliman Creek all the way until it led to the lake. There was a slight used trail that made it easier, but when the creek went north and then east, it was luring me to climb a huge plateau. I had some help from 2 male hikers to interpret the map, and went with them to camp at Silliman Lake. I stayed there for 3 nights to acclimate at about 10006'. I did Mt. Silliman the next day by passing Silliman lake, and then a small lake, and then went up to a saddle and traversed to the left. Initially, I mistook 3 other peaks for Silliman, but luckily my Inreach specified which one.

It was very scary coming down from the plateau and I slid a great deal having to avoid slippery wet rock. The easiest to descent is to stay to the left, and go all the way down before making sure that the creek is on your right side. Overall a beautiful hike, and I was proud to be able to navigate to and from there picking the best routes.
