Ascent Trip Report

On an overcast but clear day, I decided to make an early-season hiking/sightseeing/highpointing trip of Wachusett Mountain, Trap Falls (a Mass waterfall nearby Wachusett), and Rhode Island's highest point, Jerimoth Hill. I chose to hike the mile-long Mountain House Trail, which is apparently hugely popular, as the parking lot and trail were very crowded on this sub-par day. The trail was very rocky and moderately steep, but nice overall. The summit platform has incredible views, displaying Wachusett's total isolation. Despite the gloomy weather, I could see the Wapack Range and Mt. Monadnock in NH, as well as Mt. Greylock. I also walked over to the ski area, which was on its last day of the season. I couldn't believe there were so many skiers there, as the trails were literally just slush.
