Ascent Trip ReportSpent a very miserable night at Guyot Campsite. To save weight, I only brought tent fly and footprint-BIG MISTAKE. It got very cold and wet overnight with the rain splashing off the tent platform and coming in under the rainfly, hitting me in the face and getting my bag wet. Found out in the morning there was plenty of room in the shelter, so that didnt help matters. Had planned on a Pemi traverse, but I was cold and wet, and after hearing the Mt. Washington summit station weather report(which didnt sound good), I bailed and headed back the way I came. Rain actually held off until I got below Bondcliff, then it really opened up with some hail mixed in. Also had a small tree fall behind me on the Wilderness Trail, which scared the crap out of me. Arrived back at my car, pretty much defeated. |
