Beautiful area, even with the fog today! Can't wait to climb this mountain in the summer--it would be awesome!
I didn't even know there was a historic lookout up there--and it was unlocked!
I was somewhat slow during the climb...had severe symptoms of tendinitis(?) in both of my hip joints during the climb--much more painful than my previous climbs.
But I still decided to do a snow climb up the steep east side of Old Glory Mountain instead of following the ledge and ridge. It was painstaking and challenging with my snowshoes and ice axe--it must have been a 50-60° slope. The snow was consolidated and in some places the ice crust on top was rather hard and slippery. It was rewarding to make it to the top, even though at the moment it was whited-out with fog!
