Ascent Trip ReportTook Comet Falls TH to bivy below the Castle. Ugh. It is a real sidehilly postholey shwack before the trail melts out that didn't save the time we thought it might. Next time I'll just cross the lower Nisqually. My partner and I met two friends on the way up, though one of them wasn't feeling well. Moving as a party of 3 by a little after 4, up the Fuhrer Finger with like 20 other skiers and splitboarders. Route traveled straight up the center of upper Nisqually Glacier with very mellow crevasse crossings. Eventually topped out around 12. Skied back through the couloir around 1 which was a little late. Super fun, but I can see why harvesting the corn at the right time makes this line such a classic. Picked up our shiz at the bivy and skied down through ever softening slush. Van Trump Glacier was a nice cap to the day. |
