|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8560 ft / 2609 m|
Ascent Trip ReportAfter leaving the camper in the Ear Mountain Wildlife Management Parking lot off the Bellview Road west of Choteau we accessed (see GPS) and ascended the obvious NE ramp to a broad saddle at about 8,200'. With a little diligence you can avoid most of the scree by using solid rock on climber's right. From the saddle follow a pretty good use/game trail around the west face for about 0.3 miles until you're below a wide rubble filled gully that pretty obviously goes to the summit plateau. There is a little more scree on this final west-facing gully to the summit but all in all it is a pleasant walk with trekking poles. The summit is a really nice viewpoint. GPS says 8.6 miles round trip, 4,347' total vertical gain.
