Ascent Trip Report

Long day out and back via the Snow Lake trail. Left TH around 9:15 am, and finished back at the car around 10:45. Guessing about 23 miles and 8000 feet elevation gain over all. Trail was surprisingly over grown at times, though still easy to follow up to Snow Lake. The climb from Snow Lake to the Core Enchantment zone was difficult to follow at times and cost me a lot of time climbing up. The plateau of the core zone was beautiful, though the lakes are no longer safe to cross over on the frozen surface which would have saved a bunch of time. Lots of snow still on the NW face making it a nice climb up. Ice axe needed, crampons recommended though unnecessary. I was able to climb through the snow without them just fine, though it was a little icy and would have saved me a bunch of time on the ascent. With proper route finding it is an easy class 3 with no exposure, circle around the summit block and climb up from the SE side. I went up the SW side of the block and it was a little more class 4. Still pretty much no exposure though. All in all a nice, albeit long day. Bulger drought is over. 9/100
