Ascent Trip Report

DIRECTIONS
Prominent signs on footpaths point towards approach. Descends right next to posh Grace Hotel. Path to summit is around West end to the North side where there are the remnants of a stone arch for a 3rd class approach, or a split rock chimney for 4th class. Whole summit block is ripe for 5th class climbing development!

EXPERIENCE
FYI, I wrote the brief summit description from a variety of online and local print sources.

We went mid-morning to avoid the heat. We had a hotel nearby so it was a very short hike for us. Lose ~100m elevation from Imerovigli. Path looks like it was developed in the 70s with concrete steps and railings, but has been neglected since then. Lots of ruins to poke around with interesting vaults, walls, and buttresses still intact. Summit is mostly false floor over numerous vaulter rooms below; careful not to fall in.

RATING
1/1 ACCESS - popular path
1/2 REMOTENESS (Popularity, Sight/Sound) - there were more than a dozen other hikers/runners but just the geology makes it feel remote. Likely crowded in later Summer.
1/1 CONDITION - developed though neglected path to summit and church
2/3 VARIETY (Flora and Fauna, Geological, Terrain) - lots of interesting wildflowers, ruins, geology
3/3 VIEWS - incredible and unique
TOTAL 8/10
(does not include difficulty since hikers may prefer opposite extremes)
