Ascent Trip Report

Climb 4/6 for the Saranac Ultra 6. This was a very enjoyable hike, especially after Scarface which I found to be pretty disappointing. It wasn't easy though; I was definitely tired after climbing three mountains before this one and was feeling tired even just on the approach trail. As I approached the actual climbing, I started to have more fun though because it was a lot of rock scrambling, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was very wet, with some parts having flowing water, and steep, but it was mentally involved hiking that pulled e out of autopilot. The summit was incredible, with 360-degree views of the surrounding area. I know that the reason it looks like this is that it was deforested and all the dirt eroded away, but it was stunning regardless. Hung out on the summit eating a sandwich I had gotten at a gas station on the way there and waited for a group of 15 to get off the summit so I could have it all to myself. Even though I had passed a bunch of people going up, I still had around ten minutes on the summit alone, which was very refreshing. On the way down I was very grateful for my poles, which made downclimbing the wet rock much easier.
