Ascent Trip ReportAfter signing in at Berkley Green at 5:31am, this was my first peak in pursuit of the Saranac Lake Ultra 6. Very easy walking on the Jackrabbit Trail; it was wide, almost flat, and not super muddy. Once I got to the summit trail junction, the trail got very wet and was essentially a stream. It then got extremely steep, and I ended up getting off trail for a little while, which was very muddy. After the initial ascent, it was a lot of up and down scrambling. There would've been great views, but I was in the clouds, so there wasn't much to see. A little bit of navigation difficulty where a turn in the trail was blocked by blowdown, but smooth sailing after that. There were tons of false summits, with the true summit coming only after a ~200 foot drop followed immediately by regaining that elevation. Found the summit then headed down, which was sketchy at parts on the wet rock. Got back to the junction with the Jackrabbit trail and headed to Haystack.
