Ascent Trip ReportQuick as I could hike with Jim Wallace. It was supposed to be Marj, Michelle, Katie, and I, but the ladies weren't able to go. worked on my speed since it was just Jim and I. Some light rain right at the start but then it cleared and the weather was much better than expected. Nice walk in the woods to start with some steepness at the end. Big open summit and nice firetower. Summit steward was there as well and we saw several people being that it was Memorial Day weekend. Took 3.15 hours for the 6.6 mile hike which included time at the summit. Jim said we averaged about 3.0 miles per hour which is fast for me. We thought about adding Azure but I didn't have enough gas and going back to Saranac to fill up and then back to Azure was going to take too long. We both wanted to get on the road home. |
