Ascent Trip ReportMy first 10k peak in nearly a year, and really, Sandia Crest last July was just a road trip and a little hike. It's been more like 20 years since the last time I actually climbed a 10k.
Lots of hikers, many apparently regulars from Flag. A number who jogged up and down.
Drove up the day before to acclimate, took the opportunity to do so at Dark Sky Brewing. Overnight down to around 40F.
Extremely well maintained trail, with near constant grade all the way. Use horses at the beginning and end of season to supply the lookout tower at the top.
Was a bit of a hazy day, but if you looked hard enough and knew where to look, Navajo Mountain (Utah) was just visible at 118 miles.
