Ascent Trip ReportJoined Chuck for a novel route to Olympus today - started at the usual trailhead, jogged the BST to Hughes Canyon, then went up hughes, following the bits of trail and mostly staying near the creek until we were essentially directly below the saddle between Oly and Triangle. We went more or less straight up the slope from there until we hit wildcat ridge at the saddle, and then followed it back to the summit. Down the usual route. Was great fun. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the route up, this had plenty of bushwacking, but it was fun and never felt unsafe. It seems that people more often turn up the canyon wall earlier, leading them to the saddle on the usual trail. An interesting variation would be to head further along the canyon bottom until you get to the chute that climbs triangle. A great day out.
