Ascent of Little Kachess Peak on 2018-04-22
|Date:||Sunday, April 22, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Unsuccessful - Turned Back|
|Peak:||Little Kachess Peak|
| Elevation:||4884 ft / 1488 m|
Ascent Trip ReportPut on spikes at 3450' and switched to snowshoes after we began postholing around 3700'. Followed a faint, several-week-old snowshoe track for a few hundred feet, then broke trail for the rest of the ascent up to point 4884. The remaining ridge to Little Kachess was steep and heavily corniced, so we opted not to continue. Descended via the boot path from Kachess Beacon, which is entirely melted out about halfway down from the beacon. Beautiful day and wonderful views from the ridge.
