Ascent Trip Report

Took the blue trail up. Easy going and bare booted on hard packed snow or wet leaves until the final quarter mile or so, then the rock scramble. It was icy on most sections, so I used my microspikes. Some turns were not clearly marked and I had to search for clues on which way to go (follow the spike/crampon marks on the rocks). I just got a GPS and was learning how to use it, so that did help, too. Really, intuition was pretty much all that was needed, though. Gorgeous view from the summit. Found the geomarker. Took the yellow trail down, using microspikes until the trail sign for the Uncas/Rt. 28 junction. Then barebooted.
