Ascent Trip ReportThe access point for Mount Carmel is at an gate with one small, old posted sign. From here it is .73 air miles to the summit, but I only had to cover .77 miles during my hike, so it is a very direct route. The road leads all the way to the summit, except for the last 45 feet which requires a 45 foot bushwhack through thorns to get to the summit benchmark. There are two communication towers near the summit. It took me 16 minutes to reach the summit and 20 minutes to get back to my car. I took longer on my descent because I did some photography of the amazingly large anthills on the side of the road during my return.
