Ascent of Brown Mountain on 2018-03-25
|Date:||Sunday, March 25, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4466 ft / 1361 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe trail begins at a higher point than the summit of Brown Mountain, therefore it descends before it climbs. I followed Mt Lowe Road to a sharp left turn in the road. Here, the Tom Sloan Trail leaves the road and descends to a saddle below Brown Mountain. At this three way junction, I took the right fork, which is an unsigned use trail. It is also the only trail that goes uphill from the trail fork. Much of the days climbing starts here. The use trail passes over several false summits before arriving at the wide summit of Brown Mountain. A register sits in the pile of rocks marking the summit. Great mountain and city views from the top. Total trip time: 4:16.
