Ascent Trip Report

Finished ADK fire tower winter rocker today with #23. No one had signed in the register for a couple days and we could see that the snow was deep and we were in for a haul. Trudged through 18-20 inches of unbroken snow on snowshoes. It was exhausting. But bit by bit, Alan, his dog Gunner and I made it to the top. It's really too bad the tower is fenced off and can't be climbed. But the views from the summit were gorgeous. The sky was blue with some white clouds and Lake George could be clearly seen. The wind turbine was a-whirling as it was windy and could be heard for the last half mile or so. On the descent (did out and back, as we didn't want to break trail for the loop), a few others were coming up and a nice path was being made. A group of 5 had gone off to the loop and it looked like they had started a very nice path as well.
