Ascent Trip ReportI drove in from highway 87, the road that goes up to Sylvan Lake from Hill City. I took a right on forest road 352 and took it to the gate, which was closed for winter. Continued on fat bike South on 352 to I think it was 352.2C. Basically you can take roads pretty close to 6733. I parked the bike maybe a quarter mile NE of the peak and continued on foot. There was more snow up there than I expected, and deep in spots. Could have used the snowshoes. As I approached the peak, I heard jack hammering off in the distance. Turned out to be the workers over on Crazy Horse. The peak consists of a long North-South ridgeline. Great views of Sylvan Peak and Crazy Horse. Unique to see Crazy Horse from the East. Lots of mountain goats in that area. There was a male protecting a herd of females with kids. I had to wait for the male to get off the summit before I could go tag it. The East slope of 6733 could be skied, they have done enough thinning up there to create corridors in the trees. Round trip time of 4:00, spent a lot of time on top.
