Ascent Trip ReportQuiet pleasant day, a little breeze up on the top. Only one on mountain. No trail, just boulder-hopping all the way up and down. Once in the "canyon" (~2700') no more breeze, which was fine as it was a cool morning and I was wearing a t-shirt and a light long-sleeve shirt over that. Lots of cholla, and some ocotillo and saguaro. On top the peak, tons o'cholla, making it very difficult to go to the other edges and see if there was an alternate route down. Signed both peak books. Found pieces of a automotive battery at the primary peak (the one with the benchmark). Lead plates and debris everywhere.
While others have commented on the need for 4x4, most of the road is passable easily with a decent clearance 2x vehicle. There might be a few sketchy spots, but nothing that couldn't be overcome. Otherwise, followed McClellan's instructions from old US 80 to the parking area.
