Ascent Trip Report

The map indicates this peak is only 2 feet lower than Big Maria so I decided to climb this along with False Maria to remove any uncertainty about visiting the prominence point. From Big Maria the connecting ridge looked to have some difficult portions but the NW ridge looked feasible on the topo map.

From the large wash near the start of the standard route up Big Maria drive an additional 3.1 miles north along the power line road and park at the power pole of your choice. The road is somewhat rocky but no problem for a high clearance vehicle.

Hike east around the toe of the long NW ridge and enter the large wash just east on the north side of the ridge. I ascended this wash to about 1600' elevation and then hiked up a shoulder of the ridge meeting the main ridge between 2800 and 3000 feet just west of point 3166. Alternatively it looked possible to just ascend the ridge from the bottom. Either way once on the ridge it can be followed all the way to the summit. At a few places I traversed on the north side to avoid sub-summits along the way. Nothing beyond Class 2. No register found.
