Ascent of Indian Hill on 2018-02-25
|Date:||Sunday, February 25, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2280 ft / 694 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe weather was perfect, sunny with a light cool breeze. We started our hike from where the wash East of Indian Hill flows under the train tracks. We hiked South following the tracks a little way and then cut diagonally across the desert floor over to Piedras Grande. From there we followed the ridge, not the boulder wash, up to the provincial peak #3446. We dropped down the other side hitting Puff Benchmark overlooking Goat Canyon Trestle. From there we took the North ridge down crossing over the train tracks and climbing up to the old service road that takes you up one level. We followed the road eventually heading East climbing out a boulder wash up to the second level. We crossed the valley over to the base of Moan and ascended it. We dropped down the North East ridge to the desert floor and headed over to Indian Hill climbing it from the South and descending it to the North. From there it was a quick hike through the desert to the wash that took us to the truck. (9.22 mile; 3,080ft elevation gain) The whole trip including breaks took just under 7 hours.
