Ascent of Leon County High Point on 2018-02-13
|Date:||Tuesday, February 13, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Leon County High Point|
| Elevation:||279 ft / 85 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe eastern areas are as in previous trip reports. Very quiet area, although there was evidence of big earthmovers at the southern area. The main area has changed significantly. Orchard Pond Rd has been replaced by Orchard Pond Parkway, a tollway to support the rapid development in this part of Leon County. You will have to pay with your SunPass or be billed to your license plate. The good news is that the old Orchard Pond Rd south of the Parkway is now a walking trail, and there are places to legally park along it. I parked at the top of a drive marked 1991 a little over a mile west of Meridian. From there it was pretty easy to walk across the parkway and nab the high point. Again evidence of hunting and maybe developers, but I didn't feel uncomfortable at all; I passed no postings.
