Ascent Trip ReportFrom Gorek Shep after stomping on EBC. Terribly cold and windy. I had trouble just standing still and staying upright to have my summit photo taken with the historic South Face of Mt. Everest in the background. Absolutely amazing 360 degree view of the high Himalayas from summit, but just a hard long slog up to the top.
On an 18 day trek from Lukla with many stops along the way. My guide took me to Tengboche Monastery on the return to receive a blessing from the head llama. We were served tea while we were waiting for him to finish officiating at a German wedding. I only ran into two Americans during the entire trek since this was immediately following 9/11 and most cancelled and stayed home.
