Ascent Trip ReportKT stayed at the Hoot Owl Band B with a pinched nerve. Pete and I went up toward the vly between Wallface and Macnaughton via Henderson and Indian Pass Brook. Trail previously broken and compacted after thaw with about 4 inches of snow on it. Henderson Lake long and completely frozen made for quick time on the in and out. Up the brook from where it crosses the red trail to WF is the best way and stay in and around it as you climb up to 2800 feet. Very sketchy and i fell in some breaches beneath the ice 3 times... danger. MSR poles worked great up to the vly. Left them as we decided to ascend Macnaughton which was a tight bush wack up to 4000 feet. STRAIGHT up. Poles on the out made for quick work. |
