|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5890 ft / 1795 m|
Ascent Trip ReportSecond day of DPS outing led by Tina Bowman and Jim Fleming. Yesterday we did Panamint Butte. To get to Canyon Point, there is a very long dirt road drive through Cottonwood Canyon. As we only had two 4WD vehicles, we had to take our lifted F-350 with camper. Since our vehicle is larger, heavier, longer, wider, and taller than others, we are much slower. Tina was patient, leading us in and then waiting while we got by the tougher spots. The hike was not too exciting going up to the peak. Rather homogeneous landscape. But the summit itself is nice and the best part is the 1000' scree slope coming off the summit for the descent. Lots of fun and very fast. Today was a bit warmer and less breezy than Panamint Butte yesterday.
