Ascent Trip ReportSouth Fork Trail from South Fork Camp Ground. Hiked in 1.3 miles to a significant gully at 5400 feet, with magnificent Oak and Sycamore forest. From here, very steep up the gully (1000 ft in approx 2/3 mile), slow but relatively easy in the bottom of the gully. Fully expected to hit a steep dry waterfall (based on the surrounding steep and rocky cliffs), but totally fine up to the saddle Southwest of the summit. Continued up the ridge and wandered thru the final Manzanita patch to find the easiest route.
Julie Ann's route appears to have approached from the Northeast at the summit, and I think would be much tougher.
Three hours up / 2.3 miles. 4.6 miles RT and 4 1/2 hours.
