Ascent of Quamby Bluff on 2018-01-15Date: | Monday, January 15, 2018 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Quamby Bluff | Location: | Australia-Tasmania | Elevation: | 4032 ft / 1228 m |
Ascent Trip ReportA well signed track up this imposimg dolerite pile. Trail is mostly in forest, with a few crossings of talus blocks. The route goes at Class 2, is about 2.2 miles and 1500 feet of gain. The top plateau is covered with Genus Riches (tea tree) varieties and when we were there the summit plateau was occupied by millions of bees gathering nectar from the abundant flowers.
From the top we could see Bass Straight, off to the Northeast.
On this day, we had good weather with light winds.
All in all, an enjoyable and worthwhile climb. |
