Ascent of McCulloch Peak on 2018-01-14
|Others in Party:||April Sarna <10273> and our horses|
Pirate and Billy
|Date:||Sunday, January 14, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Motorized Transport to Trailhead:||Car|
| Elevation:||2155 ft / 656 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI parked our horse trailer at Sulfur Springs next to another (I've also seen a trailer parked at half mile further west just before the locked gate, but it could be difficult to find a spot or turn around there if there's several other cars already there). My wife and I rode to the top, though I walked the last half mile or so because my horse, Pirate, was having a difficult time with the constant uphill. Several others hiked up to the top while we were there, though we didn't see many on the way up, so coming up from Oak Creek may be a better option. However, finding parking there may be difficult, esp with a horse trailer. See my "Ascent of McCulloch Peak by John E Sarna on 2016-11-19" report for more specific driving and hiking directions to this trailhead.
