Ascent of Silver Mountain on 2017-12-27Date: | Wednesday, December 27, 2017 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Silver Mountain | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | Elevation: | 2190 ft / 667 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI approached from the north on South Road, parking at the end of the plowed section. There was a plowed-out area, and I think it was ok to park there. I continued on snowshoes southbound on South Road for a half mile to the Silver Mtn trailhead. South Road was hard-packed by snowmobiles, but the trail up Silver Mtn didn't appear to have been hiked since the snow fell.
I made new snowshoe tracks up Silver Mtn, enjoying beautiful winter scenery as I approached the top, and awesome views from the summit. Someone had even put up Christmas decorations on a Balsam fir tree just below the summit. I stayed at the summit for a while, despite the bitter cold wind. Then a couple of other snowshoe hikers showed up at the summit, and I chatted with them for a few minutes before heading out. Great peak, I might be coming back many more times. |
