Ascent of Wyoming County High Point on 2017-12-21
|Date:||Thursday, December 21, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Wyoming County High Point|
| Location:||USA-New York|
| Elevation:||2116 ft / 644 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis one has been in my backyard (just 20 minutes from home) for the past ten years. Not sure why it took me so long to get here. There are posted private property signs, so you may want to take that into account. The peak is in a corn field surrounding by wind turbines. There are nice views of the surrounding countryside. Be prepared for deep snow drifts in winter and for dense corn rows in the summer.
The access road off Wing St. is wide, drivable, and not gated. Follow the road to the right at the first turbine then take the next left. Park along the road halfway to the next turbine and bushwack up the small hill into the corn field. You may need to walk around the side in the summer time.
