Ascent Trip ReportThis was my first and likely only time up Mount Si. Even in the winter on a weekday, there was a surprising number of people on the trail. It climbs consistently, so I can see why people use it for training. Pretty much everyone stopped in a clearing before the haystack, though there was a well-trampled boot path going through the forest and to the base of the summer scramble up the haystack. It was filled with snow, but the snow was unconsolidated and under it was some icy crust on the rocks. One or two people had attempted it prior but quickly gave up. I did manage to ascend carefully by using my ice ax to bite into the rocks. There was some exposure from the west face higher up getting up the final summit block. A little later in the season after the snow has melted and frozen a couple of times, it should be a much easier climb by just kicking steps.
