Ascent Trip ReportLooking to do some walking, I went in from the north via the Price Lake Rd. The DNR gate near its entrance was open so I drove a couple miles to where the road to Dow Mountain branched off to the right and parked. A few potholes on the Price Lake Road, but the road up the hill is in very good shape and driveable. I followed the mapped road as it went west around the north side of Dow but it ended abruptly and I went up the north ridge to Dow's summit through forest. To descend, I followed Dow's NE ridge through the forest on a roughed in trail that had some flagging to a clearcut and walked a road down to the saddle to the south of Peak 1840 where it connected to my ascent road. This descent road wasn't mapped but shows up clearly on the satellite photo. It's defnitely the better way. 12.5 miles roundtrip (including going over Peak 1680 on the way down) from where I parked a couple miles in from Highway 119.
