Ascent Trip Report

As I started down and over Little Haystack the clouds began to disperse and I managed a few pictures in the Northwest direction. I spoke to several hikers as I headed to Basin, in an attempt to figure out if I was going to make it. No one I spoke to made me feel more at ease about the climb. At 12:55 I found myself on Basin. It had not been difficult. The worst cliff had been bypassed with an alternate route, and after all the anticipation I really felt like the hike up Cliff the previous week had been a tougher climb. On the top of Basin there was one hiker, then there were seven or eight. The clouds had lifted and the view was incredible, one of the very best, I felt a bit down that this was already the 45th peak. Slowly the others started off the peak and before I left at 1:35 I managed to spend a good five minutes on my own. I could have lingered until 2:00 but with the long hike ahead I decided that staying slightly ahead of schedule was a good idea. I shot every picture I had left in the camera and still never had one left for my hat shot. (Basin, #45)

At 2:12 I had reached the short cut.
At 3:17 I reached Slant Rock.
At 4:05 Bushnell Falls.
At 4:45 JBL
I took a 20 minute rest break at JBL and at 5:05 hit the trail again.
At 5:55 I reached the first lean-to and took a 5 minute break. I was starting to feel weary.
At 6:25 I reached the Garden.
