Ascent Trip Report

Ascent via Observer's Trail (blue markers). A few icy spots but easy to go around. Nice views of the two beaver ponds. The one has a bridge that is broken off half way across, but there is a built up ground "barrier" to use to cross. Pond looked slightly frozen over (not in all areas), but a hiker said his 230 pound friend stood on it. I would have never taken that chance. Fairly calm and cool until nearing the summit. Very cold and windy. Top of tower was locked. I found two geo markers. Pretty good views, a bit overcast with forecast of rain a few hours later. Descent via Ranger's Trail (red markers). Very rocky and tough on the knees. Icy spots, but again, easy to go around. Walked about a mile back on the highway to Observer's Trail parking area.

Weather information given is for summit. Trails were not windy or cold.
