Ascent Trip Report

Sun was near setting as I jogged back to my rental SUV. I had just enough time to drive up back up to the doghouse junction and take the easterly well maintained road. On the aerial and USGS map as you head east a bit less than a mile you see a place where a steep clay-rock-dirt 4 wheel drive road heads up hill between the two taller hills in the east side of the main saddle from doghouse junction. I parked here and headed up on foot the very steep 4 wheel drive trail that ends up in a slab of rock junction saddle between the two hills and there is shot gun shells all over the ground and target practice evidence everywhere. You can see the true peak at elevation 3,551 up the hill with access by a continuation of the 4 wheel drive road. At the upper saddle there is a short use path to the summit where there is some experimental equipment recording something up there.
